Makio Miyakawa Profile

He was born in Kyouto prefecture on 3th March in 1933.

He entered Kyouto city fine arts college (Kyouto city arts college at present) in 1951.

He studied under Tomonosuke Kogou and Nenjirou Inagaki as living national treasures.

He graduated Kyouto city fine arts collge in 1956.(Kyouto city arts collge at present)

He entered Taikou Hayashi cram school in 1956.

Taikou Hayashi was the person of influence in textile design world.

Makio Miyakawa established design room (Drawing Maki) in 1962.

○He is the chief director of Japan designers association as corporate juridical person.
○He is the vice-director of　Kyouto designers association as corporate juridical person.
○He is the director of NDK Japan design culture association as corporate juridical person.
○He is a trustee and an auditor of Saga arts college .
○He is a full-time lecturer of Ousaka and Nagoya mode polytechnic, and works as designer.

His career receiving prizes
○He won the prize of the Minister for the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the prize for the governor of Kyouto prefecture and the prize for the mayor of Kyouto and the prize for the president of Kyouto Chamber of Commerce and Industry a board of trade and the prize for Japan chemical fiber association and the prize for Kyouto newspaper and won the prizes fifty-six times.

Recognition career

He was made honorable recognition for Japan designers association as corporate juridical person in 1972.

He was made honorable recognition for Kyouto design association in 1977.

He was made honorable recognition for the mayor of Kyouto in 1978.

He was made honorable recognition for the governor Kyouto prefecture in 1982.

He was recommended as honorary member of Japan designers association as corporate juridical person in 1988.

He was recommended as Fellow of Kyouto design association in 1992.

He was decorated as Kyokujitsusoukoushou(the conferment in the fall) in 2003.

○He is a design special committee for Kyouto National Athletic Meet.
○He is a member of the selection committee for the symbol of the 42th National Arbor Day.
○He is a design special committee in commemoration for passing 1200 years since the year Kyoto city was located as capital city.
